NAP and LEGO

In 2020, Hotel NAP, like so many others, was faced with the COVID lockdowns.

During the first closure, our team rolled up its sleeves: we cleaned, painted and tackled just about every job imaginable around the hotel. When, after a short summer season, we were forced to close again in the autumn, however, most of those jobs had already been done. And there I was, at home, suddenly finding myself with unexpected free time for the first time in years.

Around that time, I came across what was then the largest LEGO set on social media: the Millennium Falcon #75192. Having been a huge LEGO fan as a child, I was immediately excited… and before I knew it, I had ordered the set.

From the moment I started building, something remarkable happened: all the stress and worries of those uncertain times faded into the background. Building with LEGO gave me a sense of calm, structure and enjoyment. And it still does. Many sets and several years later, it remains my favourite way to completely unwind and find my “zen”.

Over the years, various large and small LEGO creations have found a home throughout the hotel. By now, taking a proper “LEGO tour” around Hotel NAP is definitely worthwhile, and our guests are often surprised and delighted by what they discover.

In 2023, I came up with the idea for an even bigger project: to recreate the entire hotel in LEGO – including the complete interior. It is an enormous challenge, and because the hotel keeps me very busy during the season, I can only work on it during the winter months. As a result, it has become a multi-year project, but one that I thoroughly enjoy working on.
