Museums in West Terschelling

Center for Nature and Landscape and Sea Aquarium

Marine aquarium: A 40,000 liter aquarium and a number of smaller ones with about 30 square meters of glass surface form an enormous living and swimming space for marine fish and small marine organisms. In an open ray tank you can touch fish, perhaps for the first time. Nature Museum: The museum section gives an impression of the enormous natural wealth of Terschelling. Film room: Unique Wadden nature films are shown here continuously. Exhibition, Wadden weather & climate in motion: This extensive exhibition tells about the how and why of the weather, and encourages you to look at island climate and weather phenomena in a different way.

Museum 't Bevangen Huys

Visit these two 17th-century commander's houses and step straight into Terschellinger history. Period rooms, paintings, ship models, archaeological finds and photographs provide a picture of Terschelling and its inhabitants through the ages. Of course special attention for Terschelling's most famous explorer Willem Barentsz.
